What are blackout dates? only for airplanes?

AHA Blackout dates

dates set aside by airlines and hotels

known for their GREAT travel times - like sports events

spring break - graduations etc

so they don't want to give the freebies out - like frequent

WHATEVER miles/visits -  because

they want all setas/rooms available for $$$$$

when the time is slow - they will redeem the freebies to fill a seat or a bed

*sigh*

at least we have a carrot to chase

dates when certain fares are not available due to heavy travel patterns or holidays.  Generally a steeply discounted fare is not available on a blackout date

but if u are using frequent flier miles and want to travel on popular dates such as x-mas new years etc they can blackout those dates and not give u the cheaper fares
