  1. Chemical bonds represent the strong attraction between two atoms. The two atoms may share two electrons, which is called a covalent bond. Or, one atom may lose an electron to another atom to produces oppositely charged ions, which results in an ionic bond. The reason a chemical bond forms between two atoms is because the energy is lowered. Lower energy is one of the main tendencies in nature.
