I started driving again yesterday after 4 years and couldn't make out the petrol prices. As we all know they have risen and I'm on a buget so wanted to know what cheap is when driving around London/ Essex. 11589...is this cheap?, doesn't mean anything to me.

Thanks

  5. Petrol prices in the UK have risen by about 50% since the beginning of this year - and despite people moaning about increases in fuel duty, that's actually had next to nothing to do with it. The price of crude oil was about $70 a barrel this time last year, about $85 at the beginning of January, and peaked about two weeks ago at $147; it's now come down to about $124, and as a result the retail price in the UK has come down about 4p or 5p a litre in the last week.

Typical prices for unleaded in central London at the moment are between 116.9p and 119.9p a litre, depending on the brand and location.

  7. Petrol prices vary from place to place and service station to service station.

I heard that Tescos are offering to knock 4pence of their already cheaper than anyone elses petrol if you spend £50 in one of their supermarkets.  Just keep your receipt and go to their garage and fill up.

Always fill your car to the brim when filling up.  Why?  Because it is money in the bank - today's price may be higher by tomorrow, etc.
