  1. Ive been setting for about  4 years now and ive broken my index finger twice and my thumb once. I also sprained my toe. I also have to wear an ankle and knee brace when i play.

  2. since you land on your foot a lot, (spiking doing a jump serve) foot injuries are extremely common and survere sometimes. the effects is it makes your foot screwed up especially if surgery is part of the injery.

  3. it really depends on your position. hitters seem to get hurt the most. some short-term injuries are twisted ankles, jammed fingers or bruises. a few long term injuries can be tearing something in your leg/arm, pulling a muscle or even breaking something.

as a setter, the most you could get hurt is breaking/spraining/fracturing a finger or two. maybe hit your head on the ball once in a while. (it's happened to me.)

when playing defense you could definitely get a facial (when the ball hits you in the face) or a lot of bruises on your legs, arms from diving. it's possible to tear something in your legs as well, but unlikely.

regardless though, keep playing! volleyball is awesome and one of the best sports out there :]]

  4. I have played volleyball for six years now.  A long term injury that I have is I messed up a nerve in my elbow. I have to wear an elbow pad on my elbow when I play because if I hit it then I have a shooting pain in my elbow and also it will lock up. and I have to sleep a certain way because of my elbow injury.  It all depends on what position you play depending on what kind of injury you get.  For example a person that plays a hitter has a better chance of twisting or breaking an ankle than a DS. But each position has their share of long term and short term injuries. But there are things that you can get to help prevent injuries like active ankles to help from hurting your ankle.  I would say some short term injuries are jamming a finger, breaking a finger, twisting your ankle, breaking a nose, and bruises. Some long term injuries could be nerve damage ( but that is only because I slammed my elbow on the court really hard I don't think that is as common), tendinitis, I guess that is about it. I mean my injuries consist of elbow pains, bruises, tendinitis, random wrist pain that has to do with tendinitis.  But you should play volleyball because it is one of the best sports and the small injuries are worth it.  Every sport has there injuries but the fear of the game should not stop someone from playing it.
