  1. Modifiers? As in adjectives?

The comparative form of an adjective is formed by adding -"er", and the superlative form is formed by adding "-est". Sometimes there are tiny spelling alterations.

    - Big, bigger, biggest.

    - Small, smaller, smallest.

    - White, whiter, whitest.

    - Easy, easier, easiest.

Larger words don't add these endings. Instead, they use the words "more" and "most":

    - Beautiful, more beautiful, most beautiful.

And there are a few irregular adjectives.

    - Good, better, best.

    - Bad, worse, worst.

    And plenty more.

As for adverbs, they follow mostly the same rules.

    - Easily, easier, easiest.

    - Well, better, best.

    - Speedily, more speedily, most speedily.
