  1. dentistry is a business like any other.  What is East Side Marios doing for old people who can't afford pasta?  What is Budweiser doing for old people that can't afford beer?  I don't see why people expect a discount or a free ride because noone else is going to give you one. Its funny how people will roll up to the gas pump and put in $70 a week but think they don't have any money for their health

  2. denturtes x

  3. I work in a practice that sees mostly geriatric patients....

The ones who have maintained regular dental care through the years have minor problems here and there and over a year average $300-$500 for an annual bill.....the ones who have been lax are hit with costs for crowns and root canals or partials or bridges.....that is when it gets pricey.....

The moral:  Visit your dentist regularly....insurance or not....the moderate costs now will save you down the road and protect what you have.

  4. I accepted welfare for 5 years (I don't anymore for mutiple reasons not to be discussed here).  The cost to make a denture for person in the USA with welfare is $6

    $2 per tooth extraction

    $2-3 per filling

    $0.50 per xray

$9-root canal treatment, post, and crown

yes the insurance would pay us more.

That's right, six not sixty dollars.   $3 for the top and $3 for the bottom.

i also accepted sliding fee schedules which means we would adjust our fee schedule based on income and WIC poverty level guidelines.  We were a nonprofit dental clinic.

there are clinics out there you just have to look and travel to get to them.  Call your local welfare office for a listing of dentists and specialists that take welfare and/or have a sliding fee schedule.

  5. They are doing nothing for them. That's why so many are going to Mexico to have dental work done.

  6. Whether an elderly person or a young one should not go to a dentist, if he cannot afford to pay for the treatment. The dentists are ruthless and never oblige an indigent patient. If a person with dental problems cannot afford the treatment in America, he had better visit India, get treated and fly back to his land and that would be much cheaper proposition.
