Here are the details on my Daughter

* She can sit by herself

* She can army crawl

* She can roll over-Both ways

* She can Wave a little bit but only to herself in the Mirror

* She can say Bye Bye, Baba and sometimes Mama and Dada

But here is the catch- When she learns a new word, she forgets all the other words she has leanred and then goes back to saying the very 1st word she ever learned which is Byebye- and half of the time that is all she says.

She will not stand alone- She can pull up but she can only stand for short periods of time and when she pulls up she will only stand in one place and will not move around the playpen...

Also- She can sometimes hold her bottle and sometimes she wont...???

Any advice or tips on how to advance her more in her education?

  1. she's doing great! all you need to do is provide a stimulating environment, lots of love, and plenty of floor time. that's it. and i'm sure you already are. for some comparison: ruby is now 14 months. she says over 20 words and understands everything. but hse only waved hello, not bye-bye, until she was a year old. she crawled at 8 months, and she started pulling up to standing at 9 1/2 months -- both a little later than many other babies. she started cruising at that time, too, around 9 1/2 months. now she walks, runs, dances, and spins. she NEVER held her own bottle. still, when i gave her sippy cup at 11 months she took to it immediately and was off bottles in 2 days! all to say, they all have their own pace. the milestone markers are very general. also, as i said in the beginning, you don't need to push any of this stuff; they are compelled to do it. the most important thing you can do is provide the opportunities. you're doing great, momma.

  2. She sounds like she is doing just fine, don't worry.  Just make sure you are encouraging her to talk - walk her around outside and your house and point things out, she's taking it all in even if she's not talking.  Also, it is normal for a child to regress a little bit while learning a new skill so don't worry that she goes back to saying byebye for a while here and there.  Maybe she doesn't hold her bottle the times she wants you to do it so you two can cuddle?

To help her learn to crawl better keep giving her floor time on her belly, she'll soon start to push up and crawl, some babies only army crawl though and that is just fine.  9months is a bit young to stand on her own so don't worry - you are doing fine.

  3. She seems to be growing at a normal developping pace. Just because she keeps saying a new word over and over and won't say any of the other ones she already knows, doesn't mean she forgets them. She maybe just doesn't care about them?

Some babies are natural talkers, and some don't talk until very late. I do daycare for a little boy, he is 19 months, and my daughter is 17 months. My daughter (the younger) says over 100 words and is very advanced in speech for her age, meanwhile, the older little boy only says 2-3 words  (mama, dada and that).

I can't remember exactly when my daughter stood up by herself, but I know she didnt even crawl until 8 months, and didn't walk until she was 11.5 months old.

The bottle thing... maybe she just doesn't want to sometimes. Sometimes she's lazy! She's a human too. If I were you, I totally wouldn't worry about your little one!!

Read her lots of books, point out things that you think she'd recognize in real life (cups, animals, toys she might have...etc.) then when she sees them in everyday life, she can start to put two and two together :)

Good luck, and your daughter seems fine to me!

  4. her development is fine. she will do more stuff when she wants to. as long as she did it once, she will do it again.  if she never accomplished the things you mentioned, that's when you have to worry.

Kids usually start to talk at one year..really talk at 18 mos.  she is fine.
