  1. Music notes can alol be very diffrent. They can have diffrent values and mean diffrent things. A thirtysecond note gets one eigth a beat. A sixtenth gets one fourth a beat. A quater note gets 1 beat. A dotted quater note gets one and a half beats. A half note gets two beat. A dotted half note gets 3 beats. So bassicly if any note has a dot next to it add on half of its value on to its origonal value. But do not confuse the dot with a stacotto. Staccoto notes are real short but the dot for a staccoto note is always directly above or below a note. A whole note gets 4 beats. There are more notes and note values but these are the most important. Also since you are asking about music notes in general you may also be woundering about their pitch or what letter the note is. Music notes can only be an A B C D E F or G. All notes also have a flat and sharp. So the note D also may be a D flat or a D sharp. Notes can also be diffrent from each other by the accent that is above them. You could have a stacotto, a phat and many diffrent things but i dont exactly know what their called. I am only thirteen. Hope this helps some.
