What are different kinds of writing patterns?

I have an assignment in my english class where I am supposed to write a short story and I have to write it using a writing pattern. The only example we got was Hero's Journey. I don't really want to use this pattern because I think so will most of the class. Are there any other writing patterns? And are there sites taht list the steps?

I understand what you are saying and that you want to be different and I probably would have approached this the same way as you at your age. However I now realize that I would have got better grades at school if I hadn't tried to be different all the time. I think the teacher wants you to use "hero's journey"since it is the only one she gave you.

I can't really find many other sites that list steps of this sort in a short simple way and I have hundreds of writing books. So go with hero's journey and just write an original cool story would be my advice.
