  1. cat litter...

  2. Dawn Dish Soap

  3. the best thing to do is get catlitter and pour it around the spill;let the cat litter soak it up.repeat until it's all dried up;this will work.

  4. It depends on the size and nature - if it's in your driveway - well certainly cat litter is a good absorber.

If you are talking "in-water" like a major spill we use booms and ballasts - basically a floating rope with pads to contain the oil then we attempt to soak up the surface oil with what amounts to large pads (oil floats on the surface... well moslty).

This is probably the cheapest option and really the most effective though there's no way to get it all once it's in the waterway.  There are some developing products like chemical agents and foams folks are trying but the booms and manual soak up are really all we have - which is why it is so tragic when a tanker dumps a load - or a semi truck goes off the road into a nearby river.  Not a good scene no matter how you slice it.

I hope it's a driveway spill - keep it out of the storm drain at all costs!!

    Thanks!
