Primary Research is often undertaken after the researcher has gained some insight into the issue by collecting secondary data. This can be through numerous forms, including questionnaires, direct observation and telephone interviews amongst others. This information may be collected in things like questionnaires and interviews.

Primary Reseach is the collecion of data that has not yet been collected. it can come in different forms including telephone/postal/face-to-face/online surveys, focus groups and observations. advantages are that no other company can get the information you have collected, it addresses specific issues that you want to know and it is up to date. disadvantages are that it can be time consuming and costly.
