  1. Subjects to avoid:

    * Religion

    * Race (if you are not a member of the race you are joking about - it IS acceptable to make fun of your own race though.)

    * Politics

    * Gender-specific jokes (bashing women, etc...)

    * Explicitly sexual references

    This limits you a bit, but if you do not want to offend anyone at all, you basically need to avoid all of the above, at all times. A lot of the world's best comedians have used these topics to their advantage though.

  2. don't tell jokes that condescend but only ones that really are funny and lift the spirits. I think that jokes are good because laughter is healing but you have to keep your focus and make sure that the jokes you're telling really are to lift the mood of those around you and would never be capable of doing damage. if a joke you tell does offend someone then put your pride behind you and sincerely apologize.

  3. Just watch what kind of people you're around...

    Race is a factor

    If you're around people you don't know very well, I would suggest something more universal. So as to not offend anyone... you don't know what kind of lifestyle or job they work or what they're going through... so be careful. Make sure it's something everyone would enjoy.

    I would avoid making fun of the opposite s*x... ya never know... there might be some feministsin the group.

    Hope I helped

  4. Chester and Inoffensive have super good lists, but also Fat jokes are generally offensive  Even if your audience is slim, someone may be a former "plus size" and make take offense.

  5. Don't tell off-color jokes in mixed company.  In situations where you don't know everyone closely, avoid jokes of a political, racial, religious, or sexual nature.  In fact, don't tell a joke that you wouldn't tell in church.  Stick to puns and clean subject matter.

  6. When in doubt about a joke, just don't tell it.
