  1. thrown into outerspace, jk

they'll probably be scraped or sent to a museum?

  2. they are taken to "aircraft junkyards" where they are scraped for spare parts. Some sit there for ever and rust while others may be purchased and reused again.

  3. most are scrapped and melted down for the metal. Some are used for experiments and crash test. A few are rebuilt to new roles such as freighters or personal aircraft like for the super rich. Others if they warrant it are put in museums.

  4. Some are converted to be used as cargo planes(Federal Express uses DC-10's and used to use 727's). The rest are stripped of all useful components and hazardous materials and then sent to aircraft boneyards to await their turn at being cut up and sold as scrap and recycled.

  5. they are taken to junk yards where some of the parts are re-used, and some of them are used in movies like die hard, airplane, that new one with jodie foster, others are used as like crash dummies to experiment different types of damages they cn take and some are cleaned out very very well and put in the ocean to start new artificial coral reefs.

  6. Most taken to a Evergreen Aviation facility at Pinal Air Park in

Marana, AZ and placed into storage.  Some are sold to freight haulers, but after a period of time, they are stripped of needed parts to keep other airframes operating, and eventually cut up and sold as scrap.

  7. There are several aircraft boneyards with the big old birds.  Try examining these areas with Google Earth:

    Kingman, AZ

    Mojave, CA

    Victorville, CA

    Marana, AZ

Tucson, AZ (as well as Davis-Monthan AFB here, incredible!)

    Roswell, NM

  8. They are taking apart and put in a huge junkyard

  9. they are taken to huge junk yards in the desert
