  1. I live on a sheep farm and our main breed in our flock are Dorset. We use them for meat, But they are also really good for breeding. Dorsets tend to be better mothers, They can get impregnated just about any season of the year. Dorsets also tend to be smarter breed. Their wool is pertty coarse although with our flock we breed mario sheep into it to give them better wool

  2. They are considered a meat breed, and have a medium weight wool coat.  They can be used for both, but are primarily meat.

The dorset is primarily bred for meat although it does have decent fleece. The problem is these days, the need for wool is not as high because of other insulation and clothing materials (especially the advent of super insulators). So to breed for wool and actually make money, you need to find a breed that has superior value like the merino or has value to hand spinners like shetland.  For some breeds, the wool actually costs more to shear and ship to market than what it brings in, in sales. Dorset wool is probably sold but is secondary to the primary reason for raising them - meat.
