  1. krokket = deep fried mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes (mashed potatoes, pepper, salt, muscade, little butter & little milk) are a big "thicker" than the normal one you eat. You roll the mashed potatoes into their form, dip them in egg whites and then in breadcrumbs. Let them stand, covered with a plastic film,  in the fridge for at least a night. Deep fry.

Try the bitterballen = deep fried shredded beef made into a krokket. The beef is mixed into a kind of thick béchamel sauce made out of butter, flour and the cooking juices of the beef (instead of milk). The beef is cooked in a kind a broth for hours and until it is completely soft. MIx beef and sauce. Roll into shape (like a rectangle) .Roll into eggwhite and then breadcrumbs. Let stand, covered by a plstic film,  in the fridge for a night. Deep fry.

Hope you'll like to try these secrets for yourself..

The normal potato kroket is part of the Dutch and the Belgian specialities. You'll also find this speciality in France wher it is called "croquette de pomme de terre".

The bitterballen are a genuine Dutch speciality.

    Yummy, Yummy.

    Hope this helps.

Edit : forgot to tell you that before you roll your krokets you have to put the mixture in a covered bowl in the fridge till it is set so as to be able to roll them into shape.

  2. the are made of potato pure with some breadcrums deep fried

  3. There are potato/vegetable kroketten and meat kroketten, they're both covered in breadcrumbs and deep fried.

Most people put mustard on it, personally I think that kroketten are disgusting.
