What are easily accesable some beers, available in the US comparable to Michelob Amber Bock?

...other than Michelob Amber Bock (obviously). My husband is boycotting Budweiser.

Try the Paulaner Salvator or New Belgium's Fat Tire. If you can find it, try Big Sky Moose Drool or Shiner's Bohemian Black.

I just moved from Kansas City, there are plenty of restaruants and bars that brew there own beer.  I am a Miller Girl.  Why is he boycotting Budweiser?

Where do you live? Almost any private brewery is better than bud or michelob, which I don't consider beer anyway.

Since you live in a small town, I think it would be easier to see what they have and then do some research on it, such as www.ratebeer.com and www.beeradvocate.com (you'll need to sign up for free for BA).

I would try to make a sort of friendship with the owner, and see what they can order for you that they don't have.  Those websites will give you a good idea of what's out there, and BA can probably help you out a lot.

For those that don't know, Budweiser was bought by InBev, a belgian conglomerate.  So all those "Real American" ads don't really make sense anymore.

IMO, Fat Tire is a good beer to start with when exploring better beers.  But it's not the end-all that people make it out to be.  It's really just a mediocre beer, as far as microbrews go.  It ranks about as high as New Castle, and nobody thinks that's a top beer.

One of my personal favorites is Sam Adams Black Lager (rated 78).  I can't tell you how many of my friends I've converted to microbrews just with that beer.  Certainly you can find something better in that style, but Sam Adams distributes nationwide so you should be able to find it or be able to get the store to order it.  For hoppier beers, look into any local IPAs and Sierra Nevada (less hoppy than IPAs will be).

Try Fat Tire. It is a very tasty amber ale. Also Karl Strauss amber lager is quite good.
