Power engineering is always in demand, and Its currently growing with no end in sight.  This is one job where you will need to be continuously be learning and applying new technologies.  I've been an engineer for the last 16 years, moving up to the position of plant supervisor, and have seen first hand how new technology has been applied to improve efficiency and make my job easier.  We get good pay and benifits, and since people will always be using power, I have good job security.  If you get into this field you must always be willing to learn the new technologies to stay ahead.  It is very demanding.
