  1. In general, dicots have a taproot system with one robust central root and many smaller secondary roots.  A carrot would be an example of the taproot.  In contrast, monocots generally have fibrous root systems like sod grass.


  2. Most trees are dicots with taproots and many with adventitious roots also. (Palms and Joshua (Yucca) trees are monocots.)
