I was just wondering what you know about each. I am right handed but have been teaching myself how to be ambidextrous for a year and a half. I have gotten pretty well with most things but writing, sports, and cracking an egg. What are benefits of being ambidextrous. How ambidextrous can you be(if not perfectly).

  1. im kinda ambidextrous, when i was a kid i was a righty, then in fifth grade i trained myself to be a leftie. im pretty good with my left now.

i heard about someone who wrote the same thing in two different languages at the same time using his right and left hand.

    =)

  3. well lemme speak of left footed, not handed, that is in football or soccer games.

it is a phenomena that many of the left footed players are very skillful.

Maradona yesterday, Messi today are just few examples.

What's interesting as well, that as a football player, one gotta play in both feet as much as possible. (it is not like tennis where you only depend in one hand. In soccer, in some situation you must use the weaker foot).

So, I noticed that the right footed player uses his weaker foot (left) better than how a left footed player uses his weaker foot (right).

It is also interesting knowing that it is not always that a left footed player will be left handed.

  4. Very handy at times - I had to learn to use the computer mouse with my left hand (because of the setup of my desk) and it only took a few days before I was completely comfortable with it. Helps prevent RSI as well.

Would also be useful if you injure one hand or arm.

Got a mate who is fully ambidextrous - he plays golf with a handicap of 7 right-handed and 6 left-handed !!

  5. Most U.S Presidents since and including Gerald Ford have been lefthanded. Both Obama and McCain are lefthanded so this trend will continue.

James A. Garfield, one of four U.S. Presidents who was assassinated (in 1881), often entertained his houseguests with his parlor trick of SIMULTANEOUSLY writing classic Greek with his right hand and writing in classic Latin with his left hand. (Don’t try this in your  home.)

Despite this unique talent, Garfield did not complete his paperwork in the White House in half the time. :)
