  1. most electric locomotives run on 600 volt Dc shunt motors

  2. Fish plates are used to connect lengths of rail together, although nowadays companies tend to weld the rails together using the thermite reaction, and then reinforce the track with rivets.

In the UK electric trains are both AC and DC, and some are Dual Voltage. The majority are AC though.

  3. fish plates are used to connect rails along the length,  this will maintain contunity of the return conductor. because only one conductor supplies power through over head line, the return path for the current from motors is through rails which are earthed at regular intervals. fish plates thus connect one rail with another. they are also important as rails expand during summer and contract during winter, a small gap is maintained and it is adjusted accordingly.

as far as motors used in indian trains also in many countries, it is DC series motors.  since it has very high starting torque and can pull loads easily.  the supply used is 25000Volts ac, which is converted to dc using a rectifier and fed to motors

  4. Fish plates r d clamps which hold on 2d main rail frm both d sides..

electric trains run on DC motors....

  5. :)) i will have to search the web :D
