Interesting compound of pure carbon, arranged in a lattice that can either form a ball (buckyball, C60, made with 60 carbon atoms arranged like a soccer ball) or, in the case a buckyball is stretched in the middle, carbon nanotubes.

The interesting aspect of carbon nanotude is that they are immensely strong, 300 times tougher than steel, in traction.
