I did this thing when I was little I got like 5 ice cubes salt and a string and what u do is lay the string over the ice cubes in a row and then u put salt over them then 5-10 minutes later or something like that you go and pick up the string and the ice cubes are stuck to it... I thought it was pretty cool at the time.

I always liked Hydrolysis but it's dangerous unless you know what you're doing. I think zinc and hydrochloric acid will produce hydrogen gas (check the net) and it is fairly hard to get unless you're an adult (safety).  Burn it from a beaker or something heat proof.  Kids love fire... it's cool ,just ask em. Try it before you do it. as far as kids go ,I would just make this a demonstration. Look on the net theres plenty.

well, I'm 15, so I'll tell you some that I have done that I like

1. Growing bacteria colonies! classic biology fun. Just get a petri dish, smooth a thin layer of agar over it, swab for some bacteria, and let 'em grow. Then study it under a microscope. Test which place in your house is the germiest

2. I found a SWEET magazine where you can get the zinc out of a penny and just have the copper shell remaining http://www.boingboing.net/2007/07/06/mak...

oh a fun experiment is when you take a gummy worm and put it on top of an upside down cup and then you have a live saver and 4 paper clips. then you have to put the gummy worm into the life saver without touching it (you can only touch the paper clips) and you have to flip the cup over and put the worm and lifesaver in :) then u let them eat it :D very tasty and fun ;)
