What are general operative's duties ?

Hello everybody,

Does anyone know what does a general operative do in a construction site ? Is he like a labourer (carry stuff,help etc.) or does he do anything else ?

Depending on the Company, it could be anything from making sure the equipment in on the job site, to getting it there (grunt) work.  Having in place any materials the workers need... to being the worker.....

Basically anything and everything that needs doing, that will be your specialty......you will be an" Operative Engineer"....see that sounds better....thank you and good luck
