I don't think calling your significant other pet names is a good idea.

I think your re better off saying his name, i would personally get agitated when my ex would call me names even though they were appropriate at the time, i would have still liked to have been called by MY name the majority of the times, i think it's stupid.

call him by his name, he may appreciate you more.

i mean come on!! you've never heard someone yell out "SAY MY NAME!? it very complimenting.
