What are good amplifiers?

im purhcasing a power amplifier for a memphis 15" 500watt subwoofer im buying and building a box for and its gonna be in my house, im hooking it up to my home theaters subwoofer output and for such a big speaker it needs atleast 400watts on the 4ohm channel, so my question is can anybody point me in the direction to look for a home amplifier under 170 bucks?

i found like two that are good but i want to know what the other ones are like and remember im looking for a HOME amplifier not a car amp that you have to buy a power supply for

your noy going to finf s good home amplifier at 400watts for less the 300 dollars. i've looked ev ery where home audio works differently than car. they dont take the business lightly and sense companies make a  limited amount to sell at a time you can just find them anywhere as well. unlike car audio.

Problem. Home stereo systems run on 8 ohm speakers, not 4 ohm. So you'd better think of something else.

You could run two 4 ohm subs in series for an 8 ohm load. Both subs would need to be half of the power out of the home stereo.
