What are good and bad effects of mobile phones on students?

Bad: Die from radiation

spend too much on calls, texting etc.

Pros: In case of emergency

Cons: Easily distracts students from doing what they're supposed to be doing such as learning in class or working on homework at school.

At my highschool, we can't have our cell phones on during the actual school day (7:45 - 2:15) or else the teacher will take the phone, give it to the principal, and then your parent has to come and pick it up. I know a lot of students still do, but I'm not gonna risk anything.

Good effects: sorry, I don't know. Bad effects: well, Instant messaging causing wastage of parents' money.

Bad: Wasting time texting instead of studying/homework/learning etc.
