Visit their websites and look at the faculty/publications, etc.  It might be a great school, but completely incompatible with your research interests. If its a grad school you're looking at, talk to your present professors about your interests and what they suggest.

  3. I go to Penn State, and I minor in Anthropology.  The ONLY reason I decided to go back to college was to learn about evolution, and I picked Penn State for this reason.  I am VERY happy I did.  I have taken Honors Anthropology classes, as well as Graduate level Anthropology classes at Penn State, and I am VERY impressed by the Department.  The Head of the Department was even featured on the "Colbert Report" to explain her book "Skin".  Overall I think it is important to pick a school that is known for the field you want to study (Penn State is) and ALSO is known as having a good reputation (Penn State does).  Most of all The "college experience" at Penn State is second to NONE.  You can't have a better experience anywhere else.  I highly recommend you apply to Penn State.

  4. It completely depends on what you want to do, if you  want a four  fields school, or not, what your level of education is, and what kind of support you desire.  There are a lot of factors.  Some very good schools that no one so far has mentioned:

    -Washington University in St. Louis

    -CUNY

    -University of Michigan

    -Columbia University

    -University of North Carolina

    -Manchester (England)

-Johann Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt am Main (Germany)

  5. Brown, Oxford, Cambridge, NYU, Berkeley, Ohio University.  Cleveland State is good only if you are interested in the Maya culture, and native American culture in general.

  6. Brown University, Stanford or  University of Alaska, Fairbanks
