  1. Growing up on the Texas/Mexican border allowed me to sample all kinds of great Mexican street food:

-Seafood Cocktail: "Mariscos"-A variety of seafood with cocktail sauce

-Fruit Cocktail: "Fruitas"-Slices of cantalope, honeydew melon, watermelon, jicama root and cucumbers sprinkled with chili/lemon salt.

-Roasted Corn: "Elotes con mantiquilla"-Roasted ears of white corn with butter. You can season with salt, garlic salt, limes/lemons & chili powder

-Tacos: The ultimate of Mexican street food. I love the Carne Asada (steak) tacos with cilantro, onions & lime juice. Other kinds: carnitas (pork), lengua (beef tongue), pollo (chicken), al pastor (pork with a spicy sauce) and more.

-Mexican donuts: "Churros"- These are about a foot long iping hot donut rolled in cinnamon sugar.

Those are just a few off the top of my head!

  2. I'll always pop across the border for some carne asada street tacos, living in San Diego has it's perks ;)  There are also carnitas, tripe, tongue, and some other "unique" meats. Tortas are popular in TJ, and you can always find carts selling hot tamales during Christmas time (beef, chicken or sweet).

  3. Elote!

hot dogs in acuna at 3am after the clubs YUMMY!

    shrimp cocktail!

    Fruit cups!

    Raspas!

  5. Tortas- sandwich w/ avocado, crema, lettuce, tomato, salsa, queso, and ur choice of meat (usually asada, fajitas, or carnitas)

Taquitos- small corn tortillas w/ ur choice of meat liek asada or carne al pastor  and topped w/ salsa, lemon, cilantro, and onions (usually 5 taquitos come in an order)

Raspas- crushed, chipped, or shaved ice and covered in sugary sweet flavored syrup w/ falvors like mango, kiwi, coconut, strawberry, cantaloupe, and many more.

Esquite- fresh corn that is fried or boiled and served in a cup  topped w/ queso, lemon juice, chili powder, mayo, pepper

  6. Tacos are typical street food, also fruit, and paletas (ice cream bars) ummm, corn with butter,

  7. Don't know, but I would like to! I'll be watching for answer too!

  8. Esquites - corn cooked in hot water with epazote, onion and salt. Usually served in a cup, you can add chile and lime juice, or mayonnaise and cheese....or everything all together.

I remember hearing the voice of the street vendor passing by my house on his bycicle shouting "Elotes, tamales, esquites, eloteees!" every afternoon when I lived in Mexico.

That is Mexican street food. (among others of course, but they've already been mentioned).
