  1. I catch tilapia on dough balls and hotdogs. (Grape size)

  2. Where I fish, Tilapia run rampant.  I fish alot of crystal clear water and sight fishing for them is how I catch them. Since the places I fish for them is fairly shallow (about 3 feet deep in some places) I rarely use a float. I use 10 pound test line with a 12 inch section of 20# fluorocarbon leader. I tie on a size 1 short shank hook on it and use night crawlers. I prefer to use short shank hooks because I can cover it easier with the worm. I'll also add a split shot just above the fluorocarbon line so I can make longer casts without spooking the fish. When I spot the tilapia ( they usually run in schools of about 10 or more) I cast well ahead of the school and wait. They usually pick up the worm as they feed off the bottom and the fight starts. ~good luck catchin'.

  3. I just went tilapia and pumpkinseed fishing last weekend. I was using wax worms, as that's what always works for me. I was using an ultralight setup, but that's not necessary. I fished using a slip float with the bobber stop depth set at a few feet. I used a small baitholder hook, can't remember the exact size. Caught em real good and had a boat load for dinner! One bait I definitely suggest is wax worms.
