i want to buy a violin and i don't know much about brands. i have been playing the violin for two years and I've always used a school instrument but since I'm going to a different school they don't lend you a violin. i live in L.a and i don't know much about where music stores are and how much they cost. i don't need a really expensive violin just a good violin with a good affordable cost and sound.

  1. deutch (pronounced doige) i had 3 of those -- my 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4.  they're good for advanced and beginning players....

  2. A lot of people like these:

  3. This article has a listing of reputable violin outfits under $1500.  Hope this helps, and enjoy playing such a lovely instrument.

  4. Two that I know of....  in an affordable price range.

    Lysle

    Roth

  5. It mostly depends on how much you have to spend.

Try hunting around online music stores - that way there is no pressure and you can start learning what is available.

But unless you have a specific instrument in mind, I would definitely suggest going out and playing as many as possible, and avoid buying one sight unseen online.

    Good luck!
