Hey i was just there only just got home ok well Zacharys on Bayswater Rd in Kings Cross has gourmet pizzas for $10 on a sunday night. The Orient Hotel has $10 bar meals on tuesdays. Scubar on Rawsons Lane, just off Pitt Street has $10 Pizza and beer. Scary Canary just of Kent street has pretty cheap meals. The Gaff on Oxford Street does really cheap meals, sometimes it does a free roast if you buy a drink nights - so look out for that. The Chamberlain on Pitt Street has a $10 meal and drink deal and Sips Cafe on Campbell street has a $7.50 lunch & drink special.

If your there on holiday i suggest you visit your travel agent and ask about a "see sydney and beyond smart card" were backpackers so wanted to save some money but still see everything. this saved us heaps! just plan your days right.

If you like Asian Food head down to China-Town. Even though they are "only" food-courts the food courts above Paddys Market and about 1/2 way up Dickson Street are both great value. You can get a main course, a bowl of soup and a bowl of rice at some of the stands and get change from $10. A lot of the youth Hostels around the area highly recommend both these food courts.

Umph i wish u put more details on ur question as what type of food and the pricing that u are looking for. however here's what i think nice and decently priced:

japanese: yutaka in city. they have this $12 buffet lunch for 1 hr. definitely worth it.

Steak/ribs: try huricanne bondi. its $20 -$30. but i guarantee u come out there full and trotally satisfied.

Asian: as the others said, china town

Thai: thainatown (near central) or Spice I Am (surry hills). very cheap and tasty! yummm

Indonesian: Syallom in broadway.. only if u like spicy food
