  1. icecream cards from local businesses.

we do that tokids whove had a positive character that month- up to middle school.

front ofthe line lunch passes. - fought after and swapped!!!

  2. Game day- a day when students don't have to do the run-of-the-mill school work but can play games like scrabble, Wordplay, etc (educational games).  Sometimes they just need a break.  I'm implementing game day every other Friday for classes who stay on target with homework, in-class work, and behavior...

  3. itunes cards are a good idea, but you can also give them candy, like starburst and stuff like that. My civics teacher gave out candy sometimes and we loved it.

  4. You can get free movie rentals from some local video stores if you tell them that you're a teacher...that could be a prize...put together a movie night giftbasket...the free rental gift certificate, popcorn, candy, and a good job type certificate.

  5. itunes card is good! Believe it or not girls still like stickers at that age. Free time is dangerous, but they love it. Video game time at the end of class, time to listen to ipods, movie gift certificates, homework exempt coupon, extra credit points, movie time in class (be careful)  etc. etc. etc. Good luck!  (at the end of the year I let my class play guitar hero and dance revolution because I am a music teacher - they LOVE it!)

  6. iTunes gift cards

  7. You can encourage a student in many different ways. You can create a chart with all of the students names and every time they reach one of your expectations, like for example an A in a test or a very good presentation you give that student a star.

You challenge the students that if in the next test they have straight A's and B's you will plan a trip. They love getting out of school routine.

You can promise them one day of working with music if all of the students do their homework.

You can promise them an activity for student's day or a " Movie Day" (with educational topics of course, like "Ice Princess or "Akeelah and the Bee")

You can prepare certificates at the end of the semester...

I would recommend you to keep it that simple because students are a box of surprises and it would be terrible if they would expect a prize or compensation every time they do their work.
