  1. flying

  2. doing step-ups with him and making sure he has plenty of toys to play with that he actively enjoys. Providing food in various ways other than in the food bowl helps exert energy as well, such as hanging it as a toy.

  3. put toys in its cage, they looove toys and mirrors, check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/how_to_tame... for tips on how to train your bird   its easier than u think!  :) good luck!

  4. Take him out on your finger, and stand about 1 foot away from your cage, then gently lift your finger up, as if he was a butterfly, and he'll fly to his cage, then do it agian, but this time do it from 2 feete away etc.

Do step-ups.  Have him get on your finger, then on the other, then on the other etc.

Play with him ALOT!! maybe let him crawl around on you

  5. Like the first person mentioned, step ups are good.

Have the bird go on your finger, up your arm, then to your shoulder, let him climb all over you if he wants and beware of p**p! lol

The cage should have at least three different perches at different heights and be made of various materials-rope, wood, sandy perch etc.

Buy him a bird ladder for his cage-some hang, others hook and lean to the side of the bars diagonally.

Let him walk around the floor, sit on the floor with him.

Buy him foot toys, I would google bird foot toys for ideas on what is safe-toys he can push, grab, or roll around the bottom of his cage.

Make sure he has plenty of toys, at least 4 of different materials and rotate one out and a different one in each week to prevent boredom or feather plucking.

Birds also like their perches re-arranged as well.

  6. Your little parakeet will grab the perch and lay parallel to it and fly for miles. That is all the exercise that they need.

It isn't wise to let a bird fly in the house. There are to many places for them to get into trouble. They can chew a wire and get electrocuted, they can drown in the commode, they can fly into a mirror, wall or a window. Do yourself and your little bird a big favor, clip it's wings so it will be safe.

If you are worried about the bird not getting any exercise buy a play stand for it to play and climb on.
