Question:

What are good exercises for (back) flips?

Mainly the back flips in the air. (No hand touching ground).

Or even front flips... My friend said I need to work on my lower abs and stuff.

How about side abs? And what other muscles do I need to develop?

Please and thank you! I'm not overweight or too skinny. I'm pretty normal-athletic, so I don't think this should be too much of a problem...

But my triceps and biceps definitely need working on. (My forearms are strong, because I play badminton.)

Please help me, and if you are interested in helping me further or need more information, e-mail me. =) Thankiies!

P.S: Just in case: I am: 5' 3, chinese, and about 100-105 pounds (depending on what I've eaten that day).

  1. ....T_T why does race/ethnicity matter...? Anyways, train on your lower abs and side abs, but your legs matter quite a bit for a backflip without hands. So squats and running would help to strengthen calf and thigh muscles... You may need to specify if this is for Wushu, Gymnastics, Capoeira because there are different techniques for backflips in different arts/sports.

  2. try to do a rope exercise to strengthen you achiles muscles, this will train your agility... do much much strecthing to flex your muscle due to sports training...

you might want to find a capoera course nearby, and join their training for a month or so... capoeira is good to train your abs (both front and side) and lower back...

as far as i know, it doesn't need much arm works for back flip...

    good luck...
