I have a redcap, an oranda, a telescope goldfish, a black moore, and a ruinkin goldfish, 2 dojo loaches, 4 emerald cory's, 1 female beta in a 40 gallon tank. Should I add any more to the tank if so what kind of other fish do well with goldfish ammonia. My tank is crystal clean with plant life.

I'm tempted to put another female beta in but scared they might not like eachother and fight.

  1. you need to separate those fish!  you have cold water and tropical fish in the same tank!

cold water fish require cool/cold water

tropical fish require WARM water.  high 70's.

These fish can not co-habitate.  They need to be separated.  Please do some research before you purchase any more fish!

  2. actually, you shouldn't keep goldfish with any of the other fish. the goldfish prefer an unheated tank. while the loaches, corys and betta are tropical, needing tank temps in the 75 range.  the only tropical fish that might be possible are white cloud mountain minnows, (they can stand the cooler temps.)

and for the record, female betta are peaceful, and wont fight each other. only males do.

p.s. at least i was noce about telling you. ;-)

  3. You are going to get harassed pretty soon for having tropicals and cold water fish together... I won't criticize you for the corydoras because I've had them in my tank with goldfish for forever. My tanks are warm by nature because I have no AC and live in California. But those loaches are going get big. You are overstocked as it is with the goldfish alone. So I wouldn't get anything more. Really. : \

  4. guppies ! small and beautiful
