  1. You need some pasta. Your muscles work from glycogen stored in your muscles and your body stores it when you eat pasta such as spaghetti. But it's important for all athletes, but especially endurance athletes.

Good luck with your track meet next week!

  2. I had a Professor in college that was a marathon runner, and he used to eat pasta (carbohydrates) but he did it for endurance to last the whole race, not speed.

  3. That week (esp. the day before) you should load up on carbs (like everyone else said...pasta will do the trick).  The day of the meet (I'm assuming your race is an after school race like 4:00pm or around then) you can still have carbs in the morning (cereal, toast, bagel, etc.) then I would try to avoid protein around lunch time as that can take 6 hours + to digest.  Around race time (an hour before or so) you can either not eat anything or if you want to eat you should have fruit esp. like a banana because it digests almost instantly.  Don't eat or drink anything within 15-30 min of race.

Also the day of the race and the night before make sure to drink a ton esp. if its going to be hot.

  4. Pasta! Pasta and Pasta!

Oh yes and WATER WATER WATER LOTS OF IT!!!! especially if it is like 800m and up. Good luck!
