  1. Raw Celery- VERY effective, cheap, healthy, natural. Evry person I have told this to agrees. Celery is very alkaline. Try it- just eat a piece next time your heartburn flares up, and see what happens! There are some articles online about this, if you are interested. Here's one link:

just scroll down the page. There are other suggestions on here as well.

  2. Drew,

There are plenty of excellent natural remedies out there which could definitely help you achieve your goal. But let me suggest you first to try to reason and find the true cause of your heartburn or acid reflux. If you do so and remove the cause, you'll be free for ever. Otherwise you'll only mask the problem to find yourself not to long after with the same condition or worse.

Acid reflux is a defensive mechanism of the stomach which characterizes for an abnormal acid output. The main reason for this is the overwhelming amount--or constant management--of food by the stomach. Other reasons include: eating several meals a day, or snacking; drinking liquids with foods; overeating; late supper; over-cooked foods; low quality fats; etc.

Correct the issues mentioned above, give your stomach a brake by fasting for 1-2 days on papaya and/or apples, and then use these simple but powerful remedies:

Mix 1 teaspoon of each of these herbs (freshly cut) and put them to boil for 5 minutes, and let it seat for a while:

    Oregano

    Basil

    Peppermint

    Fig's leaves

Sweeten it with a little honey or Agave Nectar. And add 20-25 drops of Licorice root extract to this tea. Drink 2-3 cups a day. And, DON'T EAT ANY FRIED FOODS WHATSOEVER! Milk and cheese should be avoided if you want a permanent fix.

    FOODS TO AVOID

Milk, cheese, eggs, soda, refined foods (white bread, white sugar, white flour, etc.), vinegar, coffee, chocolate, sardines, very starchy foods, red beans (too high in nitrogen content), ice cream, onion, pickles, roasted nuts or seeds, and black/red pepper.

    FOODS TO ENJOY

Apple, papaya, pears, sweet grapes (no the green one), figs (no dried), asparagus, sweet tomatoes, mango, cabbage (excellent to regenerate the stomach's linen), steamed broccoli, garlic, ginger, raw nuts (specially almonds), artichoke, brown rice, olive oil (extra virgin and first cold press), and carrot.

This is easy to do, effective, and affordable!

    I already know the results...

    Good luck!  :)

  3. Apple cider vinegar. My friend SWEARS by it. It cleared up her acid reflux and her lactose intolerance!

    Hope I helped!

  4. Acid reflux is caused by the lack of stomach acid.  It's that simple.  The reflux comes when the food you eat, typically cooked food, does not get broken down correctly in the stomach due to the low acid condition, called hypochloridia.  As we age, we produce less and less stomach acid.  By the age 70, we are only producing about less than 5% of the stomach acid we did at age 25.  ALL cooked foods do not contain the enzymes found in raw food that assist the digestive process.

There are also some people that have a problem with utilizing the stomach acid due to the parietal cells (responsible for producing the HCL) becoming subdued.  These cells can become subdued by scars, traumas, tattoos, piercings, etc. on the front of the body, primarily.

The primary job of the acid produced in the stomach is to sanitize the food you eat, as well as break down (the proteins, primary) the food.

When the food, that is putrefying, rotting, and fermenting in the stomach sits there for a while, Lactic Acid is given off and methane gas forms.  This gas causes pressure to build up in the stomach, forcing the cardio sphincter at the top of the stomach to open and allow the Lactic Acid to "burp" backward up the esophagus, creating the "reflux" action.

The way to correct this is to change to a mostly raw diet.  Most people want cooked food, so this is not the most practical way to solve the problem.  Vinegar can be used, but it is generally not acidic enough to solve the problem without taking lots of it.

The best solution is to take a quality Betaine HCL product after each meal.  This, in combination, with a potassium activator will not only keep the acid indigestion from happening, but give you a huge added benefit.  You will re-methylate your cells.  This process can add about 30 - 35 years to your life expectancy.

The best Betaine HCL I've ever found on the market that goes to work in 1 to 3 minutes of swallowing it, can be found at:  www.healthline.cc (not the .com web site with the same name, it is bogus) or call them at:  (800) 370 - 3447.  The product is very cheap and really works ALL THE TIME.

    good luck to you

  5. Chili and spicy foods,  Fatty foods .  food with high fat content like bacon .  Chocolate is high fat.

Sound's like you need to get on Dr. Ohhera's Pro Biotics+12  Can be found on line.  Also take some digestive enzyme like; Chewable Original Papaya Enzyme by American Health.  Three pills after each meal helps me.
