What are good gaming laptop or desktop specs for me?

I do not need specs for school (as I'm only in middle school) so i only need specs for great gaming with good graphics and a good price tag about 1700-2500 i don't really care where they are from and i do not want the OS to be Vista as barley anything that id probably play would work on it good id like XP home or professional i'd play games like RCT3 or medal of honor games or call of duty and stuff along that line so please any suggestions?

Quad core or Core 2 Extreme

nVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB powered by EVGA

Then choose XP 32-bit. I only gave you 3GB because 32-bit systems don't detect the fourth gig, and 64-bit systems aren't compatible with many games.
