  1. I just went to the Black Forest this summer. We found a fantastic hotel there. I don't remember the name of it. But it is a nice big farm house. When you are in the Black Forest, go and ask around for the "Rodel Bahn". It's basically an alpine slide. It is on the right side of the slide. We are a family of 6 and we got 2 nice rooms with bathrooms and showers in each for i think 60 euros max. And it included a fantastic German breakfast, the rooms were clean and the owners were very friendly and convenient. I highly recommend this place and it is the if not one of the cheapest places to stay in the area. And there is the rodel bahn right next to it which is a good activity to do in the evening or during the day when you are there for the kids and even for adults. Hope you enjoy your  visit to the Black Forest!

  2. The black forest area is actually fairly big so look at some travel sites and determine where exactly you would like to stay.

I have lived in the US for 7 years now so I do not have any current recommendatins, but in general I recommend that you go to a 'pension' not a hotel. A pension is somewhat similar to a b&b. Often they are old farm houses (the huge kind, where seveal generatiosn lived together) converted into a hotel. They would give you the real black forest feeling. You can find a selection on the offcial black forest tourism site at http://www.blackforest-tourism.com/ which has an english version

One region/place I would recommend for a family with young children is the schluchsee area. Schluchsee is a large lake that has several waterparks etc around it for kids to enjoy. http://www.schluchsee.de/e/

  3. U lucky people.......this a wonderful area and U are gonna have a great time. Villingen ( small town in the black forest)people are the most helpful friendly lot and nearly all small towns have tourist info with a list of accommodation and prices. You must try the local cuisine as well...the food is something to remember.......enjoy!!!

  4. I'm not too sure about the Black Forest. I've been to Germany but never to the Black Forest although I would like to someday=) But here is a link to a tourist site for the Black Forest.
