  1. As a facilitator, I've had great success -and fun- with the Spaghetti and Marshmallows icebreaker ... it serves multiple purposes and is easy to align with diverse goals.

For your convenience I've attached a wb link below that explains this in more detail.

    Try it -good luck!

  2. We used to do one where you had two minutes to find out about the person sat next to you by asking them questions, then you had to tell the rest of the group about that person. It was funny as not everybody could remember what they had been told, and it helped the group to get to know a bit about each other.

  3. I went to workshops in college where we played Three Truths and a Lie as an icebreaker.  In groups of 4-5 people, each person takes a turn telling three things about themselves that are true and one that is not.  The rest of the group tries to guess which is not true.  People don't get too personal, which is good, but you learn little details that you might not otherwise.  Sometimes people would approach each other later for conversation based on something they would not have otherwise known they had in common.

  4. Pass around a roll of toiletpaper and let each person rip off as much as they want.

When they're done they have to think of something for each square they ripped off and tell about themselves.

  5. beer

  6. They sit round in a circle with one chair too few for the number of people.  One person stands and says, "The sun shines on everyone who ....... " and fills in with something that is true for them, e.g. can't swim, speaks Japanese, wears glasses.  If it is also true for you, you have to get up and change places.  The person left standing takes the next turn.   The person who introduced me to this told me of a conference where one of the delegates on a residential course had stood up and said, "The sun shines on everyone who had s*x last night." and one person stood up!  So perhaps some simple ground rules are needed if you're doing it with students.
