mowing lawns,  weeding gardens,  paper route,  picking berries,   A lot of farmers are wanting hand pickers right now.  But you should make sure he isn't out there alone maybe a group of friends who would like to earn some money or you could go with him for a few hours every day.

walking dogs or  bording dogs while people are on vacation if you have the room.  

Make him some cards with his phone number on them and have him pass them around to trusted neighbors.  telling them that he is trying to earn some extra money and if they need their garage cleaned or any yard work done to please call him.
