I have a cousin who is legally blind. She is in high school.

I was talking to her mom and we were trying to think of possible careers. Any ideas?

  1. She could have a career in science, math, music, writing, administration, counseling....

Schools are in dire need of teachers for math and science; a huge shortage is expected.

NASA had/has a program that brings science and space to the blind. One of their top scientists is blind.

I've included a website which lists career connections for the blind and a college guide for students with visual impairments.

So listen to her desires and encourage her to follow her dreams!

  2. Customer relations on the phone, also phone sales.

  3. If she/he is not enrolled in a school for the deaf and blind who would have a job service counselor available to help you may think of

going  to your local/state vocational rehabilitation center, and apply for services in the blind and low vision department; they will be able to help them further, and point them in the right direction.

    Good Luck.
