What are good kinds of shoes to wear while ballroom dancing?

I just started! i love it, and I want to move on to a more sophisticated shoe for it (i've been wearing my favorite strappy heels). Any ideas, good companies, stores to find them, etc?

A good pair of shoes is a worthwhile investment and, if looked after, will stay in good condition for years.You should ensure that your ballroom dance shoes fit well with good arch support. A mistake often made by new dancers is to buy shoes which are "roomy" - soft leather shoes expand and they become too loose for dancing properly.

Buy shoes with a suede sole which can be brushed to suit the floor you're dancing on. This will allow you to "swivel" when required without sliding.

Any dance store should have heels made specifically for ballroom dancing. Wearing your own heels may in time cause damage to your feet. Here is a link with some nice shoes.
