  1. Small breed mature as adults at 6 months and are ready to breed around this time.

Large breeds mature as adults at 8 months, with some needing to actually finish developing and mentally mature closer to a year.

I raise English Lops and they are those "late bloomers".

  2. Never.

    Please read http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/r...

There are too many homeless rabbits already. For every rabbit you breed, it condemns an already existing needy bunny to death.

They can have up to 12 babies. What would you do with those babies? Caring for them all, neutering and feeding them is a lot of work and money.

  3. 8 months

  4. rabbits multiply no matter what age they are

    they also multiply rappidly

  5. Rabbits should be bred for the first time at 6 months to 8 months depending on the breed. This is for the does(females). Bucks can breed from about 4 months on.

Small breeds at 6 months (Netherland,Polish, etc) Large breeds at 8 months(New Zealand, Flemish, etc)

It is not true that a rabbits pelvic bones fuse together. that is true in guinea pigs but not rabbits. It is true that the older a doe is the first time you try and breed her the harder it will be for her to become pregnant. Most does after the age of two, if never bred before, will not be able to conceive.

Please do not breed rabbit irresponsibly. Only breed if you have two purebred rabbits of the same breed. Only if you have a 3 generation pedigree for them. Make sure they are outstanding examples of their breed.

Do more research on rabbits and breeding before even considering it.

Do you have an outlet for the kits once they are weaned?

Many breeders use their cull rabbits to put meat on the dinner table. Too many people think of rabbits as just a pet animal. That is why so many(too many) end up in rescues and shelters. No rabbit should go there, they should be used to feed the many hungry people in the world.

  6. okay, rabbits cannot be bred at any age. typically, rabbits reach sexual maturity at six to eight months. if a female rabbit hasn't been bred in about two years, her pelvic bones will fuse together. she can still get pregnant, but she will not be able to give birth and it will probably be fatal to her.
