Well there isn't really a reliable source for free music downloads and it is illegal since the artist’s won't get paid for their work.  The best, and cheapest way to get music downloads is through MP3Lingo.com.  They offer unlimited music downloads for only a few bucks a month.  It's much cheaper than any other site I've came across and they are 100% legal paying the artist for their hard work in making music you enjoy.  They also have just about every song in every genre.  Check them out at www.mp3lingo.com when you get a chance.

hey try using http://www.kptunes.com where you will all the music format like .mp3, .wav. if you want to download your favorite songs then kptunes is the best place to search for it. i have been using for a while and i am happy with it since they have the largest network and huge database for each and every music i want.

like that guy said its always limewire, its fast free and easy to use, not to mention u can download movies and music videos too, but there might be a problem because sometimes u might get viruses and it will slow down ur computer, but i guess just download it when u need it and uninstall it when u dont
