I'm having a high school graduation brunch with my family and a few friends at a nice restaurant. I want to give out party favors that wont just get thrown out right away (ex. noise makers, small toys). What are some good ideas that aren't too expensive? I like personalized things, but i'm not sure what types of items.

  1. Do you have any pictures of you with your friends?  If so, you could go to snapfish .com (or any online photo site) and get stuff made from the pictures.  For under $20, you could give each person a mug or key ring or mouse pad (all with pictures of you guys on them).  Or, if you're crafty, you could make each person a mini-scrapbook using pictures of you and your friends.  You could add little notes and memories next to the pictures.  This is pretty cheap and easy (if you keep it simple - under 10 pages) and definitely won't get thrown away.

Or, if you want something even cheaper, how about instant scratch off lottery tickets?

  2. You can go to the m&m's website and pick out the colors of and what you want them to say, personalize them any way you want.  You can get them in your school colors and have your name and year of graduation on them, then put them in cellophane bags and tie them closed with ribbon in your school colors.

You can do a candle and make a paper sleeve to go around it, of course they'll take that off when they go and burn the candle, but you can put your name and graduation year on the sleeve, and make it decorative.

What about candy bars with personalized labels, but regular candy bars, take off the front and trace around the label, then use that as a main stencil and make your own, you can put your name and year, you can write thank you, anything you want.  I hope I'm not confusing you, just unstick that area in the back where the paper seam is, open it up, trace around it, and then make your own and tape your's around the candy bar and hand that out, this way you know people won't throw it out, and it's personal and not expensive!

What about little mugs filled with Hershey kisses?  You can go to the dollar store where the mugs are not expensive and get mugs that match the personality of each person coming, match the mug to the person, so each person is getting a different much and then fill the mugs with cellophane bags of Hershey kisses and hugs!  This way you know it's not clutter, and everyone uses mugs for their coffee and tea and at the dollar store you're not spending a fortune.  I'm sure being it's for family, your parents will help you with this, and it won't cost you much.

You can also get those Chinese food take out containers and fill them Hershey hugs and kisses and decorate the outsides of them.

You can go to the dollar store, and for the women, get those gift bags in the shape of purses, and for the men, see what they have and what shape you can get them and fill them with the hugs and kisses.

The reason I say to use the hugs and kisses I hope is not too confusing, it's your way of giving them hugs and kisses and showing your affection towards your family and friends.

I hope these ideas help.  Congratulations on your graduation!!!

  3. What about votive holders?  At many places (like Oriental Trading Company and companies that do wedding favors) you can order a set of votive candle holders that are personalized with your name, the event, the date, etc.  If you express-order, there's still time.
