What are good towns/cities to visit in

Romania

Russia

Japan

Australia

Brazil

Ireland

France

Belgium

Ukraine

France

Italy

UK (other than London)

Spain

Poland

Peru

and Germany?

I'm just wondering since when I'm older I would like to travel around the world. (I know, I probably won't be able to go to alot of these places.)

Also, I would like to learn how to speak German, Dutch (or Flemish) Italian, Russian, Romanian, French, Portuguese, Irish Gaelic, Japanese, Ukrainian, and possibly Chinese. Besides needing to know these languages when I travel, I have wanted to learn these for quite some time.

I can already speak Spanish so learning Italian, Romanian and French might not be as hard as the other languages.

I know, I know, I want to do/learn alot.

  1. Great question and good to see that you have so many wonderful plans. You are never too old to travel and never too old to learn new languages. I am Swiss and I speak 6 languages, of which 4 fluent. Believe me, when you master a few languages, the others will become easier to learn!

Based on my own experiences, the cities worth visiting:

Romania - Sofia (beware of pickpockets though) and Constanza

Russia - St Petersburg, Moscow (both a must)

Japan - not been there yet

Australia - not been there yet

Brazil - Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro

    Ireland - Dublin, Galway, Cork

France - my favorite: Avignon, Paris, Montpellier, Nice, Antibes

Belgium - In my opinion a waste of time

    Ukraine - never been there

    France - already answered

Italy - Milano, Venice, Verona, Rome, Florence

UK (other than London) - Glasgow, Edinburgh, Blackpool, Cardiff

Spain - Marbella, Malaga, Barcelona, Madrid

Poland - Warsaw (not been anywhere else)

    Peru - not been there

and Germany? Berlin, Dusseldorf (at X-Mas!), Munich

You should visit Switzerland and Austria too.

The best way to learn languages is interacting with locals and read magazines and tourist flyers etc. You can also start with reading children books or books that you already know in your own language, so you can relate the words.

Have fun in planning and let me know if you need to know more. Bye now xx

  2. Congratulations, Karen! You have a fantastic aim!

To learn those languages, my advice is to study just few words at the beginning, and then try to answer questions in Yahoo!Answer in France, Germany, Italy, etc(Answers International, as I do), and then open a blog (for example wordpress, hi5, etc...) ....and finally, of course, travel!

When you travel, start visit the capital, then the most beautiful places in that country... see for example these links...

(FOR EUROPE, this is a cheap way to travel: http://www.interrailnet.com/?gclid=CIepn...

  3. Well, that's a lot of countries you want to visit. I have been in most of them, and it depends a bit on what you like to see. Famous tourist attractions are sometimes a must, on the other hand, the very best places are relatively undiscovered!

What I would recommend you, is read other people's experiences on http://www.travelblog.org

It is fun to read and most people added photos. Real ones, instead of these perfect shots you see in books or magazines.

As far as your languages go:I think you're a bit ambitious there. I am a native Dutch speaker and I do speak 5 languages fluent. I know it is hard to maintain these languages all on a fluent level, especially when you don't need to use them for a while.

Anyway, I wish you good luck and a lot of fun on your journeys!

  4. Yes, it is ridiculous
