What are good plants for repelling insects particuarly blowflies?

Im aware that venus fly traps are good for killing them but they also attract them I have a huge problem with flies around my house and I notice that they breed in the lawn. Does anyone know of insect repelling plants or some magical potion to rid them from my house?

  1. marigolds and garlic are known to repel some insects.  You could also make a weak mixture of a biodegradable dish soap and water, put it in a spray bottle and occasionally spray your plants.


  2. FLY SPRAY MADE FROM PYRETHRUM or so called plant extracts- works very effectively!

  3. peppermint is good for repelling flies.you could buy some essential pepp. oil,add about 10 drops to a spray bottle

  4. yarrow  lemon scented geraniums are good mint lavender most herbs are good

  5. If you have room too plant a Eucalyptus tree it would help - they are also very pretty, blue'ish colour leaves and it is an evergreen. It also soaks up damp areas.

    As well as that you could burn aromatherapy oil in the house - again use Eucalyptus.
