What are good player jerseys to collect?

I am thinking of getting some throwback jerseys of MLB teams, but I don't have any good ideas of any older players.

I don't want to keep buying current day player jerseys because who knows if they will get traded or leave via free agency. Plus, I think some of the older jerseys look REALLY COOL.

Here are some teams and players I was thinking of:

Cubs - Hack Wilson (I don't know his # though)

Dodgers - Sandy Koufax

Orioles - Ripken Jr.

Padres - Tony Gywnn

Anyone have any other good ideas? Thanks.

  2. I'm a jersey collector, and here's some older jerseys that I have (that I really like).  My personal favorites are to find old jerseys that were manufactured during the days the players were playing rather than the currently manufactured throwbacks.  I try to focus on players (with some exceptions) who were with one team for a good part of their career.

Angels, Astros and Rangers - Nolan Ryan

    Cubs - Ryne Sandberg

    Expos - Gary Carter

    Orioles - Cal Ripken, Jr.

    Phillies - Mike Schmidt

    Reds - Johnny Bench

    Royals - George Brett

Tigers - Alan Trammell (Al Kaline's is cool also, but I don't have that one)

    White Sox - Carlton Fisk

    I'd like the following:

Astros - Jeff Bagwell or Craig Biggio

Brewers - Paul Molitor or Robin Yount
