What are good sets of names for siblings, boy and girl, of roughly the same age?

I'm starting another novel. Main characters are siblings, boy and girl, or man and woman, however you would like to see it. Need names that go hand-in-hand. They need to be short or abbreviate-able (that really says lots about my vocabulary eh?) into something short, no more than 2 syllables. My story will mainly be sci-fi but that doesn't matter. Normal, 20 or 21st century names will be fine.

Her brother could be Lukas, or Luke.  I'm not really a fan of matched sib-sets; they just sound forced and way too overdone for me lol.

Other possibilities could be Jake and Liz (Jakob and Eliza), Mark and Lucy, Tom and Kate or Kit (Thomas and Katherine), Louis and Meg (Margaret, Meghan, Megan), Drake and Sara, Fred and Lea, Harris and Julie, Drew and Sam (Andrew and Samantha), Lee and Nicole, Alex and Chloe, Mel and Evie, etc.
